ANGIE'S BACKGROUND
Full Name: Angileen Kaur Dhillon DOB: July 6
Angie Dhillon first entered the world of beauty pageantry at the age of 17 when her mother encouraged her to enter the renowned Miss India Canada pageant in 1995. Although she didn't make it to the top ten or top five, she walked away from the pageant with a lot of great experience and was inspired to work hard and spent the next few years preparing before re-entering this pageant at the age of 21. This time around, a more experienced, confident Angie took the stage. The naturally beautiful, charming and charismatic young teen was selected as one of the top 5 finalists at the pageant in Toronto. Not bad for her second time on stage as a contestant in one of the most competitive pageants in Canada.
Less than a year later, Angie Dhillon was crowned for the first time as the winner of the Miss CineWorld Pageant held in Vancouver in 1999. She later went on to win a few more pageants, adding three titles to her resume. Beauty pageants aren't the only thing Angie Dhillon has pursued over the years. In 1997, she earned a diploma in Broadcast Communications at BCIT. Since then, she has been the face and voice for one of the most popular English language shows in the local South Asian communities. She appeared as the host of the entertainment and fashion show, Zindagi on Shaw TV for a year. In addition to this, Angie Dhillon also hit the local airwaves on another popular entertainment radio show, Planet Aaj. Her success as a natural broadcaster also led her to acting roles in a number of music videos and appearances in print ads all over the Lower Mainland and across Canada.
Angie Dhillon also dedicated countless hours to raising awareness about youth violence and bullying. An issue close to her heart and one that affected her directly while she was in elementary school. In fact, she is so passionate about this cause; she has made it her speaking platform during pageants.
Over the past six years, Angie has volunteered as a Youth Guidance Counselor and worked with troubled female teens at the Willingdon Youth Detention Center. Angie also worked as a dance choreographer teaching children and women Indian and Hip-Hop dance and more importantly learning to laugh and have fun. Currently, she is also an active volunteer with the Children's Wish Foundation. Angie also helped and trained the 2004 Miss Canada Teen Global pageant winner. In 2005 Angie co-hosted the 3rd annual Miss Canada Teen Global pageant alongside Global’s TV’s Steve Darling.
In early 2006 Angie added two more recognitions to her resume, Angie was chosen by TV Week Magazine as One of 10 Most Beautiful People in BC and she was also selected as a semi-finalist in the 2006 Much Music VJ Search. During the year 2005 and most of 2006 Angie spent time working on an independent film called “In the Name of Honor”. Angie plays the role of Poonam in this film which is set to be released sometime in 2007.
